China imported 1.04 million tonnes of steel products in December 2012
According to Customs Bureau, China imported 1.04 million tonnes of steel products in December 2012, down 5.1% or 20,000 tonnes month on month; the daily imports in November decreased 5.1% month on month and 13.3% year on year.
China exported 4.85 million tonnes of steel products in December 2012, shrinking 260,000 tonnes month on month; the average daily exports lost 8.1 percent month on month but gained 30 percent year on year. Meanwhile, China imported 30,000 tonnes of semis in December 2012 and there are no exports.
In 2012, China exported 55.73 million tonnes of steel products, up 6.85 million tonnes or 13.7% year on year. We also imported 13.66 million tonnes of steel products, decreasing 1.92 million tonnes or 12.6 percent year on year. Converting steel products into crude steel, China net crude steel exports aggregate 44.4 million tonnes, an increment of 9.61 million tonnes or 27.3%.
Besides, China imported 70.94 million tonnes of iron ore in December of 2012. And for the whole year of 2012, we imported 743.55 million tonnes of iron ore, up 8.1% YoY
For coke, China exported 1.02 million tonnes in 2012, down 69.2% from a year earlier.
