DIN17102 St E 315 steel is a kind of material for boiler and pressure vessel steel. DIN17102 St E 315 steel is mainly used to  for manufacturing boilers, pressure vessels and pipes transporting hot liquids.

There are five main elements in DIN17102 St E 315 steel, carbon(C), manganese(Mn), phosphorus(P), sulfur(S) and silicon(Si).

DIN17102 St E 315 steel Chemical Composition specific data is as follows:

C  %    0.08-0.2
Mn %    0.90-1.50
P  %    0.025
S  %    0.015
Si %     0.40

Generally, in steelmaking process, manganese is good deoxidizer and desulfurizing agent. Generally, steel contains manganese 0.30 - 0.50%. Add manganese more than 0.70% to carbon steel, then the carbon steel is manganese steel, there is enough toughness, higher strength and hardness. Manganese can increase the steel hardenability, improve steel hot processing properties, such as 16Mn steel. The steel which contains manganese 11-14% has high abrasion resistance, is used to shovel, ball mill lining plate. Manganese content increasing weakens steel corrosion resistance, reduces the welding performance.

Through the above data, DIN17102 St E 315 steel contains 0.90-1.50% manganese, just because of 0.90-1.50% manganese, DIN17102 St E 315 steel corrosion resistance becomes weak and the welding performance is poor.
